FORE!!!

When I was growing up, I was able to see this gigantic golf ball from my bedroom window 8 miles away.  While back in the area recently I took a spin up to MIT Lincoln Labs.  The gate on the left is new.  You used to be able to continue up the road and go through all types of radar dishes and telescopes.  The telescopes are inside the golf balls.  As a Boy Scout I was given a tour of the inside of one of these behemoths.  During the Cold War, we always thought that if the Russians attacked we would be taken out first.  I still don't know if they are for research or defense.

One benefit of having a facility like this near you is that it is surrounded by hundreds of acres of woods, throughout which have grown miles of single track trail.  While I have spent countless hours riding these trails, I would not recommend anyone try it now.  They are policed by officers on ATV's.  I did sneak in and take a few pictures though.
